2nd Issue of International Journal of Legislative Drafting and Law Reform
Abstract
The articles in this second issue of the International Journal of Legislative Drafting and Law Reform is based around the national and international perspectives to legislative drafting and law reform as developed during at the 1st Annual conference of the journal that held at the KLT Hall, School of African and Oriential Studies (SOAS), University of London from 4-5 September 2012. The conference programme is published at the beginning of the issue. This represents a momentary departure from the journal’s regular approach. The issue is a mix of the expected academic treatment of the subject matter as well as practitioners’ narrative of their experiences in law revision, law reform and legislative drafting. The issue also published an insightful perspective on the legislative drafting process in a civil law jurisdiction (Brazil) as presented by Paulo Rosenblatt Due to spatial and other constraints, this issue has been unable to publish all the papers presented during the conference such as the “Statute Law Revision Process in Ireland” presented by Kieran Mooney, First Parliamentary Counsel of Ireland and “Legislative Drafting-Art of Translating Policies into Law” by Philip S. Marmo, Ambassador of Tanzania to China. Building on the success of the 1st annual conference of that conference, the International Journal of Legislative Drafting and Law Reform has now collaborated with the Federal Bar Association, Capitol Hill Chapter, U.S.A. and the International Judicial Academy to host the 1st International Conference on Legislative Drafting and Law Reform on March 8 and 9, 2013. A copy of the programme is published at the end of this issue and can be found at the end of this issue and on the website: http://www.fedbar.org/Intl-Conf-Leg-DraftingLaw-Reform
